I Tried The $80 Babyfacial By Drunk Elephant and My Skin Will Never Be The Same
Ok so here's the thing, I'm not one to rave about skin care products because frankly I haven't found many that have blown me away yet. To be fair though, I haven't tried too many in my life time mainly because they are pricey. I also stick to what my skin loves and currently it's these two --> Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream + Fresh Black Tea Age Delay Eye Cream
This year though I've been trying to take care of my skin more because *cough* I am only getting "younger" ;) Anyways I kept seeing this new brand "Drunk Elephant" at Sephora and saw that babyfacial was one of Allure's best of beauty item so you know I had to try it. I first went in for a sample of the babycial because girl this thing is $80 dollassssss. So you better believe I'm gonna get a sample first. What if it doesn't react well with my skin?! Boy was I in for a ride.
When I first applied it all over my skin I was fine. Like really I was FINE. It was just like any other mask until I hit the 15-20 minute mark that I felt my skin tingling. I thought it was because it was working it's magic and yes it probably is but this was the first mask that has ever done that to me. It was burning my face. Don't get me wrong it didn't hurt bad but I may or may not have been a little worried. I thought that I was having an allergic reaction to the mask !
Despite the burning sensations I wash my face after 30 minutes (10 minutes past the recommended use) with lukewarm water and start to feel my skin. Gosh I was SHOOK! My skin felt so soft guys. I couldn't believe it. It was all kinds of baby soft but I did feel that some parts were a bit tender and red. Not the normal after effect that you expect from a face mask honestly. At this point I thought my skin just didn't like this mask. Oh well. . .good thing I only got a sample and not the full size item.
I didn't think anything of it but 2 or 3 days pass and my skin started shedding. I was literally peeling and couldn't think why. Then I put two and two together. The dead skin was coming off my face. . .like magic.
Once I realized what the mask was doing to my skin I decided to give it a second chance despite the burning and redness. So I did and this time I noticed some changes. 1 -- My skin didn't tingle as much when I applied it. That means that it was getting used to the AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) and 2 -- My skin was incredibly smoother. My makeup went on like butter.
LOVE is an understatement. I'm pretty much obsessed. People have complimented my skin so so so many times about how clear it looks. Honestly, this is a magical piece of product that will be a staple in my skin routine. I now use it as recommended with the Marula Oil. It not only left my skin feeling clean but from a couple of months of using it I've noticed a lot less breakouts happening, my pores have gotten smaller around my T-zone and my blemishes have even diminished.
Let me know if you've tried it. Did you like it ?
